a glimpse at what’s been made in the shop over the last 2 weeks. Right now I’m working on finishing some green dresses and then I’m moving on to a few new batches of opal skirts for fall. I’m also expecting a shipment of new/old poly fabric soon.

I upgraded to an industrial overlock sewing machine recently and after I got used to the mechanics of it I realized that I should have upgraded a LONG time ago. I’m so happy with it’s ability to sew through any fabric and make lovely seams that I’m getting anxious about all of the new designs I want to try for fall.

I’m so happy to announce a new dress design I’ve been working on! It’s an knit aline dress with a boatneck, similar to last seasons design. I’ve added ribbing at the neck and sleeve in spandex/cotton or stretch polyester to frame the neckline. The dress features a wide stretch panel at the waistline for comfort and a flattering shape. As always I try to create designs that will look great on many body types and be very wearable. I’ve posted a collection of photos that Mike & I had fun shooting so you can get a better look at the fit & some details. Mike & I can’t wait to see this place, it looks really cool. Lots of antiques, oddities and collectibles. They’re having a big sale on their merchandise this weekend and the art/craft vendors (where we will be) set up in the atrium of the building, which is beautiful!

sundays show in brooklyn was fantastic, lots of folks showed up for handmade goods & 90s prom flashbacks. There was a steady crowd of shoppers all day and lots of cool vendors we hadn’t met before like Rich, the man behind SPRAGWERKS — cast metal belt buckles, rings & jewelry, and some familiar faces like our friend from chicago — rebecca and her RAR RAR PRESS postcards.

I was so happy to finally meet some of the lovely ladies behind BUST that I’ve only spoken to in email before sunday like Maggie Tam Clark — Associate Publisher of Advertising & Marketing, Debbie Stoller –Editor-in-Chief/Publisher, and Dawn Mauberret — marketing/promo. Some of the ladies did some skirt shopping too – Debbie grabbed one of my new vintage remix skirts & Maggie got herself a daisy print opal. Big thanks to BUST for being a source of inspiration & for helping me reach lots of readers with my BUSTSHOP ads in the back of the magazine over the past few years. THANKS BUST for helping this small biz girl grow!

orangyporangy will be taking a road trip this month to be a vendor at the BUST magazine SPRING CRAFTACULAR in Brooklyn NY! It’s their first ever spring show, featuring a DJ spinning everyone’s favorite hits from the 90s. Party’s at The Warsaw, Sunday April 27 –11am-9pm!

I have to give a BIG ol shout out to my super talented, super fun, super crafty BFF Scot Kemp for his amazing collage work. He’s been doing crafty collage designs for years and when I mentioned that his designs would be great on tags for some skirts he crafted up a beautiful piece just for me! it’s finally spring so we’re (slowly) releasing some fun new skirts to celebrate — our VINTAGE remix a-line puts a new spin on the classic opal style. Remix skirts are created by piecing together panels of vintage materials like antique tablecloths, colorful 60s linens & kitchy 50s curtains with familiar fabric remnants from our past line of skirts in hopes that no fabric will ever feel unwanted again! it’s just another way we recycle, repurpose and reuse. This is orangyporangy’s first line of absolutely one-of-a-kind skirts, (poly skirts are often one-of-a-kind too) and they’re evolving as each one is sewn. Watch for a true release of the line in early MAY! Until then here’s a little preview…
